The type specimen used for original description comes from Raja Ampat Is., Waigeo.

Pascoea spinicollis (Boisduval, 1835) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Pascoea genus ranked in the Tmesisternini tribe of Lamiinae.
