The type specimen used for original description is cited from Sulawesi.

Glenea (Glenea) basalis basalis Thomson, 1865 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Glenea basalis, species combined with the Glenea genus ranked in the Saperdini tribe of Lamiinae.
