The type specimen used for original description is cited from R. D. Congo.

Planodema congoensis (Breuning, 1942) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species divided into 2 subspecies, is combined with the Planodema genus ranked in the Theocridini tribe of Lamiinae.
