B.-P. Perroud is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from New Guinea.

Paraepepeotes togatus togatus (Perroud, 1855) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Paraepepeotes togatus, species combined with the Paraepepeotes genus ranked in the Lamiini tribe of Lamiinae.
