G. Fischer von Waldheim is the author of the original taxon.

Monochamus (Monochamus) urussovii (Fischer-Waldheim, 1805) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Monochamus genus ranked in the Monochamini tribe of Lamiinae.
