The type specimen used for original description comes from South Lesser Antilles Is., Trinidad.

Lycidola affinis Martins & Galileo, 2012 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Lycidola genus ranked in the Hemilophini tribe of Lamiinae.
