The type specimen used for original description is cited from Lebanon.
Leiopus (Leiopus) syriacus Ganglbauer, 1884 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.
The species divided into 3 subspecies, is combined with the Leiopus genus ranked in the Acanthocinini tribe of Lamiinae.
