Herophila tristis tristis (Linnaeus, 1767) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominate subdivision of Herophila tristis, species combined with the Herophila genus ranked in the Phrissomini tribe of Lamiinae.
