Dillon L. S. & Dillon E. S. are the authors of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from West Malaysia, Perak.

Gnoma gilmouri Dillon & Dillon, 1950 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Gnoma genus ranked in the Gnomini tribe of Lamiinae.
