J.W. Dalman is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from Sierra Leone.

Chariesthes (Chariesthes) bella bella (Dalman, 1817) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Chariesthes bella, species combined with the Chariesthes genus ranked in the Tragocephalini tribe of Lamiinae.
