The type specimen used for original description comes from Mexico, Baja California.

Aegomorphus peninsularis (Horn, 1880) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Aegomorphus genus ranked in the Acanthoderini tribe of Lamiinae.
