C. Aurivillius is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from Uganda.

Phytoecia (Blepisanis) neavei neavei (Aurivillius, 1914) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Phytoecia neavei, species combined with the Phytoecia genus ranked in the Saperdini tribe of Lamiinae.
