The type specimen used for original description is cited from R. D. Congo.

Paromelix unicolor unicolor (Quedenfeldt, 1883) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Paromelix unicolor, species combined with the Paromelix genus ranked in the Phrynetini tribe of Lamiinae.
