The type specimen used for original description is cited from Sierra Leone.

Murosternum pulchellum pulchellum (Dalman, 1817) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Murosternum pulchellum, species combined with the Murosternum genus ranked in the Tragocephalini tribe of Lamiinae.
