C.J. Gahan is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Malawi.

Monochamus (Quasiochamus) adamitus nyassensis (Gahan, 1888) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Monochamus adamitus, species combined with the Monochamus genus ranked in the Lamiini tribe of Lamiinae.
