C. Aurivillius is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Lesser Sunda Is., Sumbawa.

Glenea (Glenea) suturalis ruficauda Aurivillius, 1903 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Glenea suturalis, species combined with the Glenea genus ranked in the Saperdini tribe of Lamiinae.
