The type specimen used for original description comes from South China, Yunnan.

Glenea (Glenea) shuteae Lin & Yang, 2011 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Glenea genus ranked in the Saperdini tribe of Lamiinae.
