L.A. Chevrolat is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from Vieux Calabar.

Glenea (Glenea) quinquelineata Chevrolat, 1855 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species divided into 2 subspecies, is combined with the Glenea genus ranked in the Saperdini tribe of Lamiinae.
