The type specimen used for original description comes from Zimbabwe.

Cymatura bifasciata reducta Breuning, 1950 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Cymatura bifasciata, species combined with the Cymatura genus ranked in the Xylorhizini tribe of Lamiinae.
