Galileo M. H. M. & Martins U. R. are the authors of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Northeast r., Paraíba.

Ataxia parva Galileo & Martins, 2011 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Ataxia genus ranked in the Pteropliini tribe of Lamiinae.
