The type specimen used for original description comes from Mexico, Jalisco.

Aegomorphus chamelae Chemsak & Giesbert, 1986 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Aegomorphus genus ranked in the Acanthoderini tribe of Lamiinae.
