The type specimen used for original description comes from Borneo, Sabah.

Triammatus bayai binigromaculatus Jiroux & al., 2016 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Triammatus bayai, species combined with the Triammatus genus ranked in the Monochamini tribe of Lamiinae.
