C. Aurivillius is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from Bougainville.

Tmesisternus salomonus salomonus (Aurivillius, 1920) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Tmesisternus salomonus, species combined with the Tmesisternus genus ranked in the Tmesisternini tribe of Lamiinae.
