I.A. Kostin is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Kazakhstan.

Tetrops (Mimosophronica) elaeagni plaviltschikovi Kostin, 1973 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Tetrops elaeagni, species combined with the Tetrops genus ranked in the Tetropini tribe of Lamiinae.
