Galileo M. H. M. & Martins U. R. are the authors of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Costa Rica, Limón.

Tesapeus disjunctus Galileo & Martins, 2012 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Tesapeus genus ranked in the Desmiphorini tribe of Lamiinae.
