Galileo M. H. M. & Martins U. R. are the authors of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Ecuador, Napo.

Okamira pulchra Galileo & Martins, 2005 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Okamira genus ranked in the Hemilophini tribe of Lamiinae.
