The type specimen used for original description comes from Borneo, Sabah.

Microdolichostyrax minutus Gabris & al., 2016 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Microdolichostyrax genus ranked in the Morimopsini tribe of Lamiinae.
