L. Ganglbauer is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description comes from Transcaucasia.

Leiopus (Leiopus) nebulosus caucasicus (Ganglbauer, 1887) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Leiopus nebulosus, species combined with the Leiopus genus ranked in the Acanthocinini tribe of Lamiinae.
