The type specimen used for original description is cited from Transcaucasia.

Leiopus (Leiopus) nebulosus caucasicus Ganglbauer, 1887 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is a subdivision of Leiopus nebulosus, species combined with the Leiopus genus ranked in the ACANTHOCININI tribe of Lamiinae.
