The type specimen used for original description comes from North China, Shanxi.

Eodorcadion (Eodorcadion) shanxiense Danilevsky, 2007 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Eodorcadion genus ranked in the Dorcadionini tribe of Lamiinae.
