The type specimen used for original description comes from Iraq.

Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) mosulense Ozdikmen & al., 2014 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Dorcadion genus ranked in the Dorcadiini tribe of Lamiinae.
