G.A. Scopoli is the author of the original taxon.

The type specimen used for original description is cited from Slovenia.

Dorcadion (Carinatodorcadion) aethiops aethiops (Scopoli, 1763) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Dorcadion aethiops, species combined with the Dorcadion genus ranked in the Dorcadionini tribe of Lamiinae.
