The type specimen used for original description comes from Moluccas, Ternate.
Cereopsius luhuanus ternatensis Breuning, 1956 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.
The group is a subdivision of Cereopsius luhuanus, species combined with the Cereopsius genus ranked in the Lamiini tribe of Lamiinae.
