The type specimen used for original description comes from Brazil, Rondônia.

Adesmus facetus Martins & Galileo, 2008 is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Adesmus genus ranked in the Hemilophini tribe of Lamiinae.
