The type specimen used for original description is cited from New Guinea.

Prosoplus (Prosoplus) sinuatofasciatus sinuatofasciata Blanchard, 1853 is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Prosoplus sinuatofasciatus, species combined with the Prosoplus genus ranked in the Pteropliini tribe of Lamiinae.
