The type specimen used for original description is cited from Guinea.

Pterolophia (Pterolophia) guineensis guineensis (Thomson, 1864) is the full name of the group-subspecies in the taxonomic classification system.

The group is the nominal subdivision of Pterolophia guineensis, species combined with the Pterolophia genus ranked in the Pteropliini tribe of Lamiinae.
