The type specimen used for original description comes from Bolivia, Santa Cruz.

Aegomorphus pinima (Galileo & Martins, 2006) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Aegomorphus genus ranked in the Acanthoderini tribe of Lamiinae.
