The type specimen used for original description comes from Brazil, Santa Catarina.

Aegomorphus brevicornis (Zajciw, 1964) is the full name of the group-species in the taxonomic classification system.

The species is combined with the Aegomorphus genus ranked in the Acanthoderini tribe of Lamiinae.
